December 2006
December 20th, 2006
Since this will be my last message before Christmas I wanted to pass on Christmas greetings and best wishes from BCWWA and myself to all of our members. I would also like to pass on news of some coming changes to the face (faces) of BCWWA. Farrell Spence, Membership & Cross Connection Control Administrator, has finished her year long term in that role. Her good humour and hard work will be missed. We have another staff member leaving on a maternity leave – Cindy Bressler, our Training and Education Coordinator, will be gone until January 2008. Covering for Cindy will be Eugene Kaplan and we welcome him to the BCWWA family. Finally, our Director of Training and Education Programming, Madeleine Butschler, is leaving the BCWWA group. We wish her all the best. One other staff member who joined us recently is Judy Zhang, our new Bookkeeper/Office Manager. We are sorry to lose the input of those who are leaving BCWWA and we welcome the newcomers. Merry Christmas!

Moving ahead sometimes means leaving some things behind. At our Strategic Planning meeting on December 8th though we did not leave behind our commitment to the BCWWA members or our desire to continue to deliver high quality courses and other services. The Board and the Leadership Council talked about areas of concern to our constituents (our members!) and the ways that we can address these high priority issues. We are hoping that in the coming months we will be presenting seminars and workshops on a variety of timely topics like Source Water Protection, Boil Water Advisories, Point of Entry/Point of Use, Waste Water Treatment and Drinking Water Protection. Plus, we talked about education and training offerings to meet the needs of supervisors and others involved in water management. It is important to us that we are in regular contact with our members – what do you think? And what do you want BCWWA to do? Let me know – at JLevin@corp.delta.bc.ca.
