Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman, Water Services


You hold an Alberta Environment Level IV certification in wastewater treatment and have at least 5 years’ work experience leading a crew in a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) wastewater treatment plant.

As Foreman, you possess a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of wastewater treatment system operations; the preferred candidate must be able to read and interpreting piping and instrumentation drawings, lab and flow results, gauges, recording devices and general plant instrumentation, determining the equipment, tools, manpower and materials required to complete assigned projects; interacting courteously and respectfully with customers (internal and external) and the general public; exercising independent judgment in operational duties, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal associates, management, coworkers and vendors; using hand and power tools, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

You have considerable leadership experience, preferably in a municipal environment, and are a “natural” teacher, mentor and coach with a proven record of instilling high pride, safety compliance, productivity and quality work in your team. As Foreman, you set an impeccable standard of performance in maintaining accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and actively leading the wastewater treatment plant crew in ensuring regulatory compliance.

This position is based on 40 hours per week in a 7-day a week operation and requires participation in our emergency on-call rotation. Rate of pay is certifications-based and ranges from $ 37.89 (6 certifications) to $ 45.38 (12 certifications) based on experience. On-going training and development are part of this department’s mandate.

Further qualifications for this position include; Valid Class 3Q Alberta’s drivers licence and clear driver’s abstract, valid basic first aid and CPR certificate, competence in Microsoft office suite, familiarity with iFIX SCADA programs. . Skills in contract/project management is also considered an asset. Required physical abilities; manual dexterity, good vision, ability to work in awkward or small spaces and a variety of environmental conditions and to push, pull and lift items of up to 50lbs.
