About the Job:

The Corix Group of Companies specializes in supplying products and utility solutions for sustainable utility infrastructure in the water, wastewater and energy sectors as well as providing field metering services.

Corix has an immediate opening for a regular full-time HSE Manager (Utilities) at our Calgary, AB or Langley, BC location reporting to the Director, HSE. This position provides strategic and technical support in order to develop and implement health, safety and environmental procedures and strategies that support new and existing operational activities, as well as ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and organizational safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, implements, and monitors programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and provincial workplace safety and health laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates with managers or other appropriate staff in providing work site health and safety investigations; ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures; assists in the development of safety programs, accident prevention and safety programs;
  • Works independently and in partnership with the management teams to organize and implement initiatives.
  • Analyzes legislative and regulatory changes, modifying program components to ensure that they meet all current standards and legislative mandates established by federal and provincial regulations
  • Identifies health and safety training needs and provides training on internal processes
  • Maintains timely and thorough collection of ongoing health and safety statistics and provides regular organization wide health and safety reports
  • Performs other related duties as required

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment
  • Work travel is required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Technical Diploma or Certificate in a related discipline
  • Occupational health, safety and environment is required
  • 5 years related experience in water and wastewater operations
  • Must be a results oriented leader capable of working productively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Have thorough knowledge and experience in health and safety management systems and program implementation
  • Have broad knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, and Industry Standards as they apply to the utilities industry
  • Ability to handle competing priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills including Excel, Power Point and Word
