  • automation to reduce labour requirements and upset conditions.

Job Description
Alexco is looking for a Site Supervisor to oversee labour and operations of a mobile industrial water treatment facility at a site near Fort St. John, BC, Canada. The position will be required to:

  • oversee the labour and operations of the treatment plant which includes operation and maintenance of pumps, hoses, air compressor and pipelines, etc.;
  • develop site reports and documents to ensure proper system compliance;
  • provide accurate and timely project information, reports and status updates;
  • oversee the operation with frequent system inspections;
  • report to the remote Project Manager to ensure proper performance of the facility;
  • develop and monitor check lists for site priorities, safety compliance, and support monthly invoice generation;
  • interface directly with the customer for scheduling system relocation, operation and on-site support;
  • oversee the collection and analysis of compliance samples;
  • oversee the dismantling, transport, and installation of mobile water treatment equipment throughout the construction site;
  • oversee the scheduling, safety and work quality of 4 on-site employees to provide direction to ensure proper system functionality and 24/7 labour coverage;
  • ensure all reagents, supplies and materials are at proper inventory levels;
  • plan, coordinate and execute work in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner;
  • interact with equipment vendors and other contractors on site in a professional manner;
  • oversee periodic inspections of equipment and water treatment treatment/injection system to monitor proper performance of operations;
  • ensure that the on-site staff take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents;
  • identify and recommend improvements to operations to ensure assigned functions are efficient and cost effective.


  • B.Sc. in construction management and/or civil, mechanical or environmental engineering;
  • currently hold an industrial operator's licence in BC or Alberta;
  • 3 to 8 years of experience operating or managing an industrial water treatment plan facility;
  • has legal authorization to work in Canada for a period no less than 5 years;
  • is able to work flexible hours, with some weeks requiring 45 plus hours per week;
  • will submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening;
  • does not have any un-expunged convictions for violations of the law relating to force, violence, theft or controlled substances;
  • is in good physical health, able to lift a minimum of 25kg, stand/bend/stoop for long periods of time;
  • capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • is in possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence under a Canadian province or territory with clean driver's abstract;
  • is able to safely operate hand tools, small machinery, pumps, and fire hoses;
  • has the ability to understand, carry out, and develop oral and wirtten instructions in English;
  • is able to report for work on time and perform the duties of the job for the scheduled workday and report any uncompleted tasks.
