EPCOR has up to two (2) permanent positions available at our Elk Valley, BC location!

The accountabilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Water and Wastewater plant operations activities (i.e.: water quality sampling, process monitoring, evaluation, and control, residuals management, equipment isolations and shutdowns, cleaning, quality assurance/quality control testing, chemical addition/transfers).
  • Monitoring and meeting internal quality standards (i.e.: safety & environmental).
  • Data collection for monthly regulatory and operational reporting, as required.
  • Generating and analyzing reports (i.e.: monthly/annual operational, safety, and financial reports).
  • Troubleshooting day-to-day operational issues and developing solutions to rectify these issues.
  • Maintaining and developing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinating facility maintenance activities and assisting in developing maintenance programs.

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent with a combination of applicable operating experience, training, and certification.
  • Level II Certification in Water Treatment and/or Wastewater Treatment.
  • Two or more years of experience in operating and maintaining water and/or wastewater plants; Experience with Industrial Wastewater Treatment is desirable.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience will be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver's License (with 6 demerits or less). A Driver Abstract will be required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SCADA and an affinity to learn other software systems as required.
  • Ability to obtain access to sites in the Elk Valley, BC Coal area is required.

Additional Information:

Jurisdiction: OSH
Hours: Seven days on, seven days off (80 hours bi-weekly) with 12.0 hours per day from days one to six and 8.0 hours on day seven.
Overtime, night shift, weekend work and participation in the on-call rotation system is required.
Location: West Line Creek Treatment Facility (Elk Valley, BC).

Candidates are encouraged to reside in Elk Valley, BC. Candidates who wish to commute will also be considered.

  • A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
  • If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
  • A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
