Start your conference experience with a Technical Tour at the Dockside Green`s Wastewater Treatment Plant, a fully automated SCADA treatment system.

2. Rainwater Management Bus Tour May 31, 9:00am - 12:00pm.

This tour demonstrates how rainwater management has been incorporated into landscapes within the Victoria downtown core, commercial developments, local streetscapes, single family homes and urban parks.

Session Overview

This one-day course offers a unique opportunity to learn about concepts and principles of hydrogeology and groundwater management, and will addresses groundwater-related regulation and sustainable groundwater management.

Includes the following modules:

• Groundwater system concepts
• An overview of groundwater governance in BC
• Groundwater development (well projects)
• Aspects and importance of sustainable groundwater management: groundwater monitoring, and wellhead & aquifer protection.
• Aspects and importance of a well maintenance program: well performance monitoring, and well preventative maintenance / rehabilitation
• Hydrogeological assessment for subdivision approval
• Hydrogeology and septic systems

The program comprises of lecture, case studies, activities and a working groundwater model used to demonstrate key concepts.

A must-go-to course for water system managers, operators and others involved with groundwater-based water systems. Valuable for professionals who work with hydrogeologists in a team environment, and/or are involved in groundwater-based water systems or construction projects above (vulnerable) aquifers. The course is not intended for hydrogeologists.
