General Information

• If you are a displaced forest worker you may be eligible for tuition assistance to pay for your BCWWA courses. One of three Community Development Trust programs, the Tuition Assistance Program assists laid-off forest workers to upgrade their skills and education and prepare for success in British Columbia’s 21st century economy. The program is all about opening doors to a successful future.

  The Community Development Trust Tuition Assistance Program provides up to $5,000 for tuition and required books over a one year period. Courses must be offered by a designated public or private school located in B.C. Funding is available until March 31, 2011. Course Registration Rates

• Operators who wish to take advantage of the member rate must be current BCWWA members at the time of registration. You can enroll to become a member by completing an online membership application or by faxing a completed form to BCWWA. Certification Examinations

• To write a certification examination, you must apply separately to the EOCP and satisfy their requirements at least two weeks in advance of the exam session. Visit the Environmental Operator Certification Program website for more information.

Water Systems for Drinking Water Officers

• This is a course designed for public health inspectors as an orientation and review of the technical aspects of inspecting drinking water systems.  The BCWWA instructors have had many years of experience of public health inspection in the field and in a supervisory capacity.  Some of the course is delivered in a workshop format where the risk factors associated with water system design and operations are evaluated.  A practical problem solving approach is used, which helps the inspectors to build credibility with the operators.  Participants are encouraged to bring issues for discussion.  The course has been delivered throughout BC and the Yukon, and student evaluations have been very good overall.
