Doug and Glen will be talking about practical leadership techniques all operators can use, whether in a managerial capacity or in everyday working life. They are both energetic, dynamic and always highly-rated instructors for the BCWWA Management & Supervisory Skills course and also work in Instructor Development. With Doug and Glen at the helm, this session will be engaging and offer takeaways for every level of operations staff.

Afternoon Session: Water utilities during crisis

Speaker: Lane Simon

Lane will be sharing his moving firsthand account of water operations during the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, when he stayed behind with first responders to ensure that the water stayed on. His presentation will provide details on his on the ground experience during the fires, lessons learned by the city, and advice on emergency preparedness for other utilities facing the new normal of wildfire season. Lane is an experienced operations professional who has worked for leaders in the pulp and paper industry, such as Tolko and Fabco, and his presentation is sure to inspire.
