A letter from BCWWA CEO Marian Hands and BCWWA President Mike Seymour

Friends and Colleagues,

At the BCWWA we are aware of the impact COVID-19 has had on our membership, the greater water community and their families. We are appreciative of all the work done by the professionals who ensure critical water infrastructure remains available to everyone.

We have created a page that contains links to a wide variety of resources regarding COVID-19. We continue to seek ways to support our members, customers and partners with resources both on the personal side to protect themselves and their families and on the facility side, to protect their employees and to ensure business and service continuity through these uncertain times.

As you know COVID-19 has affected many of the programs the BCWWA provides to our members and the public. Here is an update on upcoming events.

BCWWA 2020 Annual Conference & Trade Show

Rescheduled to November 2-4, 2020 in Penticton, BC

Our Annual Conference & Trade Show has been changed from April 26-28 to November 2-4, 2020. It will still be held at Penticton Trade & Conference Centre and the Lakeside Conference Hotel. All exhibitor, sponsor and delegate registrations will be automatically transferred to this new date (including booth locations). We invite all speakers and moderators to maintain their spot in the program so that they can participate in the important knowledge sharing and networking that the conference has to offer.

For registrants who are not able to attend the conference in November, your registration can be credited towards our 49th Annual Conference in Whistler, BC on May 12-14, 2021 or refunded completely by emailing contact@bcwwa.org with your preference.

For exhibitors and sponsors who are unable to attend please click here to read the cancellation process.

Operator School
Postponed

We are postponing the May 4-15 Operator School in Langley and are currently looking at dates in the fall to hold this school. Those students who have already registered will receive credits to transfer to one of our online courses or a course in the fall (dates to be announced soon), or you can request a refund by emailing jninkovic@bcwwa.org.

Our online courses are instructor supported and may be a solution to completing your certification requirements. For further information about our education programs, please contact Jelena Ninkovic (jninkovic@bcwwa.org).

Cross Connection Control Certification Exams

Some schools are cancelling their backflow prevention courses and, as a result, their exams have also been cancelled. We are working closely with the different schools regarding these cancellations.  All fees for cancelled exams will be refunded. We will pass along information as soon as it becomes available. Please contact Corry Wong (cwong@bcwwa.org) for more information.

BCWWA Office

Our offices are officially closing Friday, March 20. Many of our staff have already been working from home, and as of Friday, all staff will work remotely. We will revisit this at the end of March, as we follow the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer.

During this time, our staff will continue to be available by phone and email. The website will still be available for membership renewals and registrations for online courses and certification exams. Refunds and manual transactions will occur, but please expect a delay.

As you know, BCWWA is a non-profit organization. We value your support, and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these unprecedented circumstances.

We sincerely wish the very best for you and your families.

Best regards,

Mike Seymour
