Important Update on BCWWA 2020 Annual Conference & Trade Show

The BCWWA Annual Conference has been a highlight of the water and wastewater community for almost 50 years. It has been a place where old connections reacquaint, new connections are made, projects, research and information are shared, new technology is presented and importantly, people exchange knowledge and ideas that further the sector as a whole. The conference allows us to come together and celebrate the strength of our sector within BC and Yukon.

In March, we announced the postponement of the conference from April 26-28 in Penticton, BC to November 2-4 in the same location, with the hopes that the COVID-19 pandemic adjustments would be resolved. As we gain further clarity about the pandemic, and the four stages of “return to normal”, it has become apparent through our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry that a large-scale event such as our Annual Conference would not be possible in the fall. Recognizing the water industry’s continued need to network and share their experiences and knowledge, the Board has elected to convert the fall conference to a virtual format.

As we pivot into this new delivery model, both the Board and staff are committed to ensuring that the BCWWA 2020 Virtual Conference & Trade Show continues to provide a valuable experience for all of our attendees.  Learning from the successes of some of the many virtual offers, we are working to develop a high quality user experience that incorporates a combination of knowledge sharing, product displays, information sessions, and networking opportunities. We are excited by this opportunity to provide new offerings to engage our membership and will maintain our commitment to excellent service within our re-imagined event.

Our exhibitor and sponsor community are very important to us. We recognize the importance of corporate and product exposure, ongoing relationship development, and connection to industry for these stakeholders. As a result, we are actively considering ways to ensure that our exhibitors and sponsors have a valuable experience at this event.

The BCWWA team will be reaching out through email to our delegates, speakers, moderators, exhibitors and sponsors to survey their perspectives. Your feedback to these surveys is critical to our ensuring that we provide the best experience for our conference participants.

At this time, we are finalizing the details regarding cancelling, crediting, transferring and transitioning current registrations for delegates, exhibitors and sponsors. This information will be available on our website, and emailed to our current registrants by Friday, June 26, 2020.

The BCWWA is committed to bringing the water community together in 2020. As an organization, we recognize the importance of being flexible during these times and finding creative ways to achieve that goal. We would like to thank you for your support during these times and for your patience as we finalize the details of our event programming.

As further information is available, we will be updating our website, including this news section.

Sincerely,
