Reducing and eliminating lead in drinking water requires municipal treatment plant operators, water suppliers, health authorities and property owners work together to ensure clean, safe drinking water.
The BCWWA is committed to supporting the water sector by providing information and resources to assist in implementing Health Canada’s recently released Guidelines on Drinking Water Quality (March 2019) and the BC Health Protection Branch’s Guidelines on Evaluating and Mitigating Lead in Drinking Water Supplies, Schools, Daycares and Other Buildings (April 2019).
The BCWWA is working to ensure municipal treatment plant operators and water suppliers are kept informed of the changes and are well-prepared to manage the technical and community considerations related to these guidelines.
The following resources have been developed with support and guidance from the BCWWA Lead in Drinking Water Task Force. The Task Force includes representation from water suppliers, water supply specialists and local and provincial governments.
